2024 Parliament Community Recognition Statement from David Saliba MP

We were honoured to receive a Community Recognition Statement from David Saliba MP, who praised Community First Step's inspiring 50-year journey in South Western Sydney.

 

He highlighted our evolution from humble beginnings as the Fairfield Community Council for Social Development to a vital organisation addressing diverse community needs through children, youth, and family services, community development, settlement services, and disability support. Notably, he acknowledged our crucial role in supporting Fairfield during peaks of migration, underscoring our commitment to inclusivity and innovation.

2022 Awards

Community Partner Award 2022

Southwestern Sydney Local Health District

Community First Step won Community Partner Award 2022 from the Southwestern Sydney Local Health District. The award recognised our collaboration with Southwestern Sydney Local Health District to deliver frozen meals, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to the local community during the lockdown period.

ZEST Award 2022

Exceptional Community Partnership

Community First Step received the ZEST Award for Exceptional Community Partnership in 2022, recognising the strong support we provided to the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Fairfield Food Hub Partnership. In collaboration with Fairfield City Council and other local partners, we delivered meals to the Fairfield LGA and supported isolated families during this challenging time.

NSW Emerging Youth Worker of the Year - Heath Harris

Youth Work Awards 2022

Our very own Youth Worker, Heath Harris won the award for NSW Emerging Youth Worker of the Year at the Youth Work Awards 2022. The award recognsied the journey that Heath has taken, from his beginnings as a work placement student with CFS, to his amazing work as a full-timer, developing workshops, supporting case management clients, mastering data collection and entry and building strong relationships with stakeholders and young people overall.
